USSR
Russia is the world's largest nation and ranks sixth in population.
During the Russian Revolutions of 1917, the Czar was executed and the
Bolsheviks, led by Lenin and Stalin, took power.
In 1922, when Lenin
died
(many claim he was murdered by Stalin), Stalin seized control of the
Russian government and people. He then began a reign of political terror
that lasted most of the century and ended up with some 60 million
Russians dead because of his actions.
Regardless of opinion,
Stalin is
considered one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century.
